The 2013 edition of the Curitiba Biennial will have a new collective curatorial core, named Prêmio Jovens Curadores (?Young Curator Award?).
Coordinated and selected by Stephanie Dahn Batista, the young curators? propositions will occupy spaces in the Museu da Fotografia Cidade de Curitiba, Museu da Gravura Cidade de Curitiba, Museu de Arte Contemporânea do Paraná / Casa Andrade Muricy and Museu Municipal de Arte ? MuMA.
The team of young curators is already working and is composed of: Angelo Luz, Debora Santiago, Kamilla Nunes and Renan Araujo.
With conceptual roots based on the fractal image, the team of young curators is working both collectively and in small groups: divisions are similar to the original image of the whole as to its properties, says Stephanie Dahn Batista, the curatorial coordinator. According to the coordinator, ?the collective fractal process questions the single curatorial authority by creating multiple curatorial cells, to be understood as a speech about curatorship (?) that experiences the possible forms of curatorship for an International Biennial.?
The artist selection made by the young curators as a group in conjunction with the curatorial coordinator includes both national and international artists.
