Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She graduated in Visual Arts, studied painting in Paris and Sofia Vari in Rome attended L’Accademia delle Belle Arti. After many years of residence in Paris and Guatemala, currently he lives and works in Asuncion, Paraguay. Alejandra Mastro began using photography as a media in 1996, and in 2003 presented her first solo exhibition of analogue photography in the Museum of Modern Art Carlos Merida, Guatemala City. Since then, working with digital images, videos and installations. She has exhibited in galleries, cultural centers and trade fairs in Latin America as well as in Art San Diego and the Affordable Art Fair New York. In Guatemala, she won the Premio Banco Cuscatlán Single (2004) and several awards at the Biennial of Art Paiz (Glyph of Oro in 1998 and 2000). In France, she won the Gran Premio de Dibujo Desnudo at the International Festival of Deauville and distinctions in the Salon of French Artists, the Elsener Albert Foundation Award and the Journal d’Art Journal L’Amateur Award. Her works are in important Latin American collections. For the Biennial of Curitiba, the artist plans to show the film “Rituales Vanos”.
