ARTIST

Davide Boriani

For Davide Boriani, one of the forerunners of optical-kinetic art, Gruppo T and its artists, the reality must be seen as a “continuous evolution of phenomena that we see in variation”. The reality of the moment was not fixed as a immutable reality of a slow world. The idea was now to seek a way to express its art time in terms of variation, not showing “complete and completed organisms” but “indefinite finishing process”. The new organizational principle of art came to be the “programming and chance”. Pantachrome n. 5 (1967/1976) is a mosaic of light modules that will not be repeated for a six-year cycle. In Ph scope (1965)  there are bright spots traces generated by ultraviolet light moving over a phosphorescent screen, the viewer can program seven signal sequences.
