Mauro Restiffe was born in São Jose do Rio Pardo, in 1970, and lives and works in São Paulo. Among his solo exhibitions, the highlights are São Paulo, Fora de Alcance, at the Insituto Moreira Sales of Rio de Janeiro (2014), Obra, at the Contemporary Art Museum of USP (2013), Intersecção, at the University Maria Antonia Centre (2013) , and Mirante, as part of PhotoEspana 09 (2009). He participated in the biennials of São Paulo (2006), Taipei (2006), Mercosul (2009) and Cuenca (2014). Participated in 2005, 2007 and 2013 in Panorama of Brazilian Art, at the Museum of Modern Art of São Paulo. His work is present in collections such as Tate Modern, London, SFMoMA, San Francisco, Inhotim, Minas Gerais and Pinacoteca do Estado de São Paulo, São Paulo. For this edition of the Biennial of Curitiba, the artist works with grainy and colorless photographs, captured inside the cells where the friars lived in the monastery of San Marco, in Florence, circulating between architecture and space through visual compositions.
