Born in Morretes, Theodoro de Bona began his studies in painting with Alfredo Andersen. The artist introduced a new aesthetic thought in Paraná, in the early twentieth century. He participated in several important exhibitions in Brazil and Europe, as at the Venice Biennale. It is actively involved in the Italian art movement since lived in Italy for nearly ten years, having approached the Catholic religion, which is represented in this work.
