Joyce St. Clair

Works by Joyce St. Clair celebrate the richnesses of lyrical textures, juicy colors and smooth surfaces to invite viewers into a conversation about forms, femininity, tactility and utilitarian ideas about contemporary ceramics. “Installed” at one of Curitiba’s hippest cafés, Botanique, St. Clair’s works will be actively used by the public during the biennial—variously cocooning coffees and small plants frequently sold at this location. Relying on Botanique as a partner also does much to further open the Curitiba Biennial to audiences that might never before have participated in its activities.
