Leonor Antunes

Lisbon, Portugal, 1972; Lives and works between Berlin (Germany) and Lisbon (Portugal). In her practice, Leonor Antunes acts as a kind of translator, materializing, through sculptures in wood, cork, leather and / or rope, the potential of forms and principles Constructive relationships that relate directly to the memory of the place. His work is informed by the modern thinking tradition of architecture and design, but he does not deprive himself of approaching it from a more sensitive and poetic point of view, placing the body and tactile experience as central elements in his creations. The insistence on manual work and traditional techniques allows the artist to embody a vernacular spirit and to bring the observer closer to the social, philosophical and material dimensions of artisanal making.
