Walterio Iraheta

He studied Graphic Arts at the Dr. José Matías Delgado University of El Salvador, at the Cultural Center of Chicago, USA. And at the School of Visual Arts in La Esmeralda, Mexico.
He received the first prize at the Paiz Art Biennial in El Salvador 2007, Honorable Mention at the Contemporary Art Competition of Palma de Mallorca, Spain 2004 and the first prize at the Biennial of Contemporary Art of the Central American Isthmus of 1998, among others . Participated in the Biennial of Valencia – São Paulo 2008; At the X Biennial of Havana 2009; The first Pontevedra Biennial in 2010 and the 54th Venice Biennale 2011. To date it has more than 35 personal exhibitions and more than 150 collectives.

At the moment, he is very interested in subjects related to human displacement, the phenomenon of migration and hybrid cultures, he is interested in mixing values and traditions among people from different regions.

Lives and works in San Ignacio, Chalatenango, El Salvador.
