Yang Kai was born in 1987 in Yantai, Shandong Province. After graduation from the Fine Arts School Affiliated to Central Academy of Fine Arts in 2006, Yang moved to the UK and studied at the Canterbury Christ Church University and University for the Creative Arts before he majored in Fine Art at Central Saint Martins of the UAL (University of the Arts London). Yang has been engaged in quite a number of major Sino-British cultural exchange events. He has alsoparticipated in international exhibitions including: exhibition at Barbican Centre in London in 2012, which took his work to the institute’s collection; the international art project “On Sharks & Humanity” at which his work Sesshoumaru (2015-2017) was exhibited at the National Museum of China in Beijing in 2015, and Hong Kong Maritime Museum in 2017; contemporary sculptures group show “Breathing” at Nanjing Museum in Nanjing in 2016, where his Rites were stressed; and “Story about the Orient-Art Invitational Exhibition of Asian Youth” at National Art Museum of China where his new work in 2017 Inch of Gold and Youth were displayed.Yang’s solo exhibitions/projects include “In-Between” at Parkview Green Gallery in Beijing in 2014, and “YANGKAI” at de Sarthe Gallery in Beijing in 2016. His works have also participated in exhibitions held at multiple art institutes and museums in various cities ranging from Canterbury, London, Beijing,Shanghai,HongKong,Macau,Turin,Miamitoothers.
